Looking to continue your acting journey? This acting class is for actors with some onstage or onset experience looking to develop skills in character development, active listening, monologue performance, and text analysis. This class draws on Dr. Turner’s experience in improvisational acting and her training in the Chekhov and Meisner acting techniques. Actors new to the craft are encouraged to take Beginning Acting. Email Katie Turner, dr.katie@actors-place.com Saturdays 11am-1pm, June 13- July 18 (There is another section of this class available Thursdays 6:30-8:30pm, June 11th-July 16th) ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR: Dr. Katie Turner, founder of The Actor’s Place, is a veteran actor, director, and educator, with more than 25 years of experience as a theatre artist. She earned her two-year certificate from the Meisner/Chekhov Integrated Training Studio and is a Designated Meisner Teacher with the Meisner Institute. She also holds a BA, MA, and PhD in Theatre and currently is on the faculty of San Diego State University’s School of Theatre, Television, and Film, where he also serves as the Associate Director. Katie believes that the foundations of all good acting are spontaneity, imagination, and play. She also believes in creating a supporting and safe environment where everyone can learn.
