Looking for a fun and informative improv class that doesn't require a long term commitment? This is for you! Dr. Katie Turner, an improv teacher for the last 18 years, is offering drop-in classes for the next month (except the week of Thanksgiving). The sessions will focus on quick thinking, creating interesting characters, and storytelling, using short form games. Great for improvisors at any level, and for teachers looking for new games to play with their students! ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR: Dr. Katie Turner, founder of The Actor's Place, is a looooooooong-time improvisor who has been teaching Improvisational acting at different levels for nearly 20 years. She has been teaching Improvisational Acting at San Diego State University since 2018. She roots her approach to improv in the foundations of spontaneity, imagination, and play. She performed monthly with Durango Dot Comedy from 2002-2008, and has been teaching ever since. She specializes in short form improv but has experience applying improv to scripted scene work and using it to generate devised works. She is also a Meisner- and Chekhov-trained actor and teacher.
