Service Description

This beginning Musical Theatre class is perfect for students who are new to the art form or looking to refresh their foundational skills. Through a supportive environment, students will explore singing, acting, and movement as they learn how to bring characters and stories to life on stage. The class focuses on building confidence, developing performance technique, and introducing essential musical theatre concepts. This class is a continuation from Beginning Musical Theatre I but you didn't need to attend the first session to attend this one. Concepts from MT I will be reviewed and re-enforced while introducing new skills. Beginning Musical Theatre starts with the fundamentals of acting. Students will learn Stanislavski- and Chekhov-based techniques to help them connect to the text of a song and begin to embody a character. Through scene and song work, students will explore given circumstances, beats, intentions, character analysis, and vocal and physical awareness, while developing the foundational skills needed for musical theatre performance. Students will also gain an introduction to the history of musical theatre. Concepts introduced in Beginning Musical Theatre I will be reviewed and expanded upon in Beginning Musical Theatre II, allowing students to deepen their understanding and strengthen these essential performance skills.
