The Actor’s Place is looking for 1-2 interns to assist with our summer marketing campaigns and program management.
About The Actor's Place
The Actor's Place is a new acting studio in Mission Valley, opened in October 2024 by Dr. Katie Turner, also Executive Director of the Meisner & Chekhov Integrated Actor Training Program and the Assistant Director of the School of Theatre, Television, and Film at San Diego State University.
The Actor's Place is dedicated to being an accessible space for actors of all ability levels and from all walks of life to find community and grow as artists. As a woman- and LGBTQIA+-owned business, we are committed to fair and inclusive practices.
The Actor's Place is home to the Meisner & Chekhov Integrated Training Program.
Starting this summer, we will introduce new programming in Musical Theatre, Improv, Solo Show Development, and classes for Adults 55+. Come be pat of an exciting new venture at The Actor's Place--your place to grow!
Position Descriptions:
Content Creator Intern
Under the supervision of the studio owner, interns in this position will:
create graphics and reels for social media using Canva, under the supervision of the studio owner
3-5 posts per week, 2-4 reels per month
Organize final graphics and videos in a shared folder
Schedule and post graphics and reels
Engage with other related accounts as The Actor’s Place
Keep Link Tree and profile details up to date
Attend classes and events hosted by The Actor’s Place to capture photos and video, as availability allows
Organize photos and videos in a shared folder
Programming Intern
Under the supervision of the studio and in collaboration with teaching artists, interns in this position will:
Gather information such as descriptions, teacher bios, and headshots for classes and events, and organize in a shared folder
Provide programming information to the Content Creator Intern
Communicate class or event details with enrolled students and event attendees
Add clients to The Actor’s Place contact list, as needed
Assist studio owner with managing The Actor’s Place memberships, as needed (i.e. sending welcome packets to new members, answering member questions)
Time Commitment
Each position requires 4-6 hours per week
Up to 4 of these hours will be synchronous work time with the studio owner and other team members; additional hours may be work done asynchronously on your own schedule
Synchronous hours can be completed remotely
Internship dates are June 23-August 22nd (occasional schedule conflicts are fine!)
Compensation
Interns will be compensated with a $200 monthly stipend (payable on July 1 and August 1)
In the case of 1 intern filling both positions, this stipend would increase to $400 monthly
Interns will also be allowed to participate in any Actor’s Place programming free of charge during the period of the internship (does not include programming hosted by outside renters)
Qualifications
Open to applicants 18 years and older
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Experience with Google Suite
Ability to meet deadlines
Ability to follow written instructions
Good organizational skills
Comfortable asking questions
Willingness to learn
Interest in arts education and/or actor training
No additional experience necessary! We are happy to train the right candidates
