Making monologues fun!

2 hr

Mission Valley

Service Description

In this class, we will make working on monologues something you enjoy! As musical theatre actors, we have our book of songs ready to go for any audition but monologues seem to always freak us out. This class seeks to take the fear out of the situation and help you connect with the material and HAVE FUN! When the director at the audition asks "do you have a monologue?" you will be ready to go after taking this class! Our instructor for the class is Dr. Katie Turner (she/her). Katie believes in approaching acting from a place of imagination, spontaneity and (serious) play. She is a veteran of the Theatre, with 25 years in the industry. She is an actor, director, producer, and playwright. Her primary passion is working with actors. She has been performing and teaching improv for 20 years, which she is proud to have been teaching at SDSU for the last 7 years. She is also a graduate of the Meisner & Chekhov Integrated Actor Training program, where she studied Meisner and Chekhov technique for 5 years. She is now faculty at MCIAT and the Executive Director of the Company. She is currently working toward completing the Designated Meisner Teacher training course through the Meisner Institute. Katie is also the proud founder of the Actor's Place, as well as Assistant Director of the School of Theatre, Television, and Film at SDSU! @katie_teaches_acting
